The Vietnam War was a military conflict which occurred during the Cold War and was fought by North Vietnam and its communistic allies against South Vietnam and its allies. The United States was one of South Vietnam's main supporter, and fought to stop the spread of communism. The Vietnam War began in 1954 and ended in 1975.
